New Job, Thumbs Up (so far)

Well the title says it all. Today was my first day at my first (read: real) job here in San Francisco (er, read: real job in awhile). While I spent most of the morning filling out a poop ton of paperwork and meeting people, my afternoon was devoted to actually doing work. Heaven forbid I work on my first day... but it's close to the new semester (I work for a well known San Franciscian based Art School, if you must know) and it felt good to jump in. Oh, and I have a pretty sweet set up (dual flat screen monitors, Xeon processing and CS3 everything!) and I only work 4 days a week (ahhhh, West Cost work ethic). I'll have pics to show in a few a few days, especially of the view... I'm right across from Pier 39 (I can see sea lions!) and Alcatraz. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all.

I still don't know what to do in the event of an earthquake though.

And after all of that, I drank a few Californian Pinot Grigios and listened to And They Know Us From The Trail Of Dead. Getting up (read: early!) to go to work is hard, but I'm happy to be involved with it again. Ahhhhh consistent paydays (and benefits... oh how I missed you!)

Yay! So happy for you! We should meet up for lunch next week while I'm still wharfing it too. In-n-out??

thanks! and yes, in-n-out it is! and i'll "interface" with you about it later this week! we also need to make dinner plans some time soon for the 4 of us!

Yay! Congrats. I just had visions of Office Space fleeting through my mind. So... about those TPS reports...

Congrats! And good work on scoring a great view!

Hooray, K! While you were enjoying a happy first day at work, I was lounging around in my pajamas watching the snow fall.

Congrats again on the new job. I actually worked my very first day too recently at a very corporate and very big office supply company. You'd be amazed at how hard it is to get office supplies working for a company that has their own brands. Went from dual screens to a 14 inch monitor and didn't have post-its for 3 months! Ah, corporate America!

J: ha, no TPS reports here - I'm in academia!

A: It's amazing how wholesome surroundings can make work a more positive experience. That and booze.

S: yeah, no chance of a snow day o'er here. It honestly felt awesome to actually go somewhere for once!

N: I hear ya! I've worked for companies that have had at least one month's notice of my start date... only to arrive to no desk, phone or computer. siiiiigh, I don't miss it!

congrats on the new job! So exciting!!! When you figure out what to do when an earthquake happens, give me a heads up. moving that way in May. =)

Congrats fancy-pants! Sounds like a swanky deal and you have the skills to rock it out!

Cheers to you! I could totally use a new job right about now. Mine blows. :)
