Pre Holiday Frenzy
Phew, I’ve been working a LOT. I just finished a 2 day break after working 5 full days, non stop, on my feet. The job's not so bad: my co-workers are cool, the product pretty much sells itself, and the customers have been pleasant. I think I’ve only encountered one jerk out of hundreds. This has turned out to be a pretty good seasonal gig… wait, I take that back. It’s not over quite yet…
Needless to say, working on thy feet all day long leaves me fairly drained and I’ve been avoiding the Internet like the plague. We had friends in from Sacramento over the weekend and I had to cut my fun short because I had to work at the bum crack of dawn both days. I’m not at all jealous that everyone stayed up until 4 in the morning drinking and playing video games. Not-at-all.
Anyway, it was nice to have 2 days off from the crazy. I took Matt to the Cartoon Art Museum yesterday afternoon for the belated portion of his birthday gift. Afterwards, we spent a few hours “shopping” and taking advantage of my employee discount at no need to mention department store, and his educator’s discount at Borders. We finished off the evening with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, which is probably the only chain restaurant that I actually like, a lot. Wait, is Taco Bell considered to be a chain restaurant?
This morning I accompanied Matt to the airport for his flight to Buffalo and I'm not going to see him again until I drive down to his hometown of Center of nowhere, NY on Wednesday. In the meantime, it will be weird to not have him around (MISS HIM) and I must remember to feed his cat. FEED THE CAT.
I spent the rest of today doing laundry and working on the few Christmas cards that I’ll be able to send out this year. I bought my cards at Urban Outfitters because I found a cute pattern with some Christmas mice drinking wine and opening gifts. While writing in the cards, I had a mild panic attack because I thought some of the mice were holding bongs. Alas, they weren't (I don't think?) and I spent the rest of the evening back downtown finishing off a majority of my Christmas shopping. I purchased nothing online. Pretty stupid since 75% of it needs to be stuffed into a suitcase and brought back East. Sigh.
And now I’m about to embark on a 4 day work marathon until I hop on a plane headed to Roch cha cha late Monday night. I’ll be home through the 4th of January (birthday eve!) Since I’ll be lugging a ton of stuff back and forth, I think I’ll leave my machine here. I’m sure I’ll be able to update via another 'puter... but until after Christmas, this might just be my last post. And with that, I wish you all a fun and healthy holiday. Here’s a picture Matt and I took last night in Union Square. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Great update! Sounds like you are having a good time out in San Fran and very happy with Matt. Happy holidays to you!
PS we kept some snow around for you here in the Roch-cha-cha, just in case you forgot what it looks like.

Yay, K! I can't wait to see you. I'm glad your seasonal gig is working out so splendidly. And also, you just made me want Cheesecake Factory pretty bad, and it's 8 a.m.
Merry Christmas!

Ah, the dangers of getting Christmas cards at a tragically hip store! I hope you have a great holiday and keep us posted on everything!
