NaBloPoMo Day 13: Good, Clean, Mayhemless Weekend
Saturday was so rainy. So rainy. This was very disappointing as I wanted to go for a long walk in Golden Gate Park. Ah well, M and I decided to go to Oakland instead. Oakland? Yeah, exactly. We attempted to take a ferry for a nice view of the cities on the bay, but ended up traveling underground via the Bart. I'm not keen on traveling below large bodies of water, btw. But before heading across the bay, I ate one of my favorite meals: Huevos Rancheros and a Mexican Coke. It helped calm my nerves a bit.

Yum!
As expected, Oakland was rainy like San Francisco, if not more so. Despite that, we hiked a few blocks over to Jack London square. I had no idea that such a prominent literary figure was affiliated with Oakland, California… but it’s not like I ever did any research on the guy (wow, according to wikipedia, he was born around the corner from where I currently reside, crazy small world!) We checked out his cabin, and had a drink in this tiny bar he used to hang out in. The bar was cool because it was severely slanted from the last earthquake, and they served the best Guinness!

Slanted bar that pours an awesome Guinness

Too early!
Soaking wet, with only a Starbucks soy hot chocolate to warm me... we hopped back on the Bart and travelled further North to Target. Exciting, I know, but this was my first trip to a Target in like, 8 weeks. We purchased some very lovely curtain rods, and I bought me a new towel. A new towel which proved very handy in shielding off some of the rain.
After returning to San Francisco, we stopped off for some delicious Falafel at my most favorite place to get a Falafel. Then, thanks to the power of NHL Center Ice, we dried off and watch the Sharks destroy the Coyotes, a game so impressive – my Western New York clan and I declared the Sharks as our new favorite team. Well, on the West side that is. I cannot wait to watch the Sabres play the Sharks down in San Jose, in person, next month. Dude, enough Sports. Beer.
Sunday Sunday Sunday was beautiful so M, V and I all hopped back onto the Bart and headed toward the racetrack in North Berkley. I love the horse races, and I especially love the horse races when Sunday is $1 beer and hotdog day! There was a 2 drink maximum purchase, so we tried to keep a full supply.

I totally predicted who was going to
V walked away about $12 ahead. I walked away with nothing because I spent all my cash on Bart fare and $1 beers. Mental note: stop by ATM prior to gambling.
Later, M, V and I headed over to our friend S’s house in Berkley where we spent the rest of the evening emptying out beer bottles on his couch, watching my new favorite show, "Flight of the Conchords."
And then I slept in, ate take out Chinese food and did the laundry on Monday. The end.

K, you are my hero. How did you last 8 weeks without a Target?
