Overdressed
It was a big weekend for festivals! Mindy, G and I caught the tail end of the Love Fest parade after lunching at the Ferry Plaza Farm Market (I had butternut squash and jack cheese tamales, so good!) Lots of brightly colored scantily clad folk flailing to drum and bass. So much drum and bass. I think my heart rhythm has finally returned to normal.
I went to lunch with my old pal Vinny and his boss on Friday and both agreed that every San Franciscan should check out the Folsom Street Fair at least once in their life. I added it to my event list for Sunday, but only after spending large quantities of time in my new favorite store. I won't go into too much detail, but I will say that I was clearly warned and thankfully, it wasn’t as, uh… raunchy as I thought. As a matter of fact, It was quite tasteful. Well, about as tasteful as a festival known as "the grand daddy of all leather events" could be. Oh heavens.
Anyway, I paid the $5 recommended donation to get in, which allowed me $1 off drinks. Then I bought a $6 small Fosters for $5. So really, I paid $10 for a Fosters that could have been $6. Er, whatever… I’m sure that money is going to a good cause. Somewhere. And I heard Ladytron would be performing. That’s worth a $10 beer.
Or not.
It got crowded, really crowded. It was sunny and surprisingly hot. Those factors combined with bumping into a crowd full of near-naked, entirely naked or near-naked leather clad humans… was a little much. I left and missed Ladytron. At least I can say I’ve been there, and saw… well, things I never would have expected to see at a public event.
It was an experience and a half.
Other weekend toppers: Becky came over for Make Your Own Taco Night on Friday and we watched Knocked Up. Mindy, G and I dined on the best Burmese food in the world (outside of Burma) Saturday night. And Sunday morning was my first day back to running after a near 3 month hiatus. Thumbs up weekend. Now back to the pavement.

Even with the "Bum-Free Site" censoring, I find that image disturbing.

Ok, so I know there were naked people and leather conventions in this post, but really? All I saw was butternut squash tamale. YUM!

K: try being squished up next to it.
J: It was great, a really good movie. I have to watch it again for maximum silly dialog absorption!
S: It was soooooo good! Except I ordered too much and had to throw some of it out. I'm sure a seagull finished it off.

I've never been a fan of censorship in any form, but yours made me smile, and I want to thank you for that.
