Raise the ruff
Friday night, G and Mindy kindly invited Dutch and I to attend a wine tasting party at G’s co-worker’s apartment, conveniently located around the corner from here. It was a lot of fun, and naturally Dutch turned on the charm and convinced everyone in the room that he's not an absolute terror (he is). Let-me-tell-you folks, that little poo bag stole my underwear and proceeded to chew upon it to his heart’s content only a few hours before! Everyone at the party was all, “He’s so cute and adorable!”
Well, I beg to differ:
Ah, heck. I can’t stay mad at him. He is too darn cute! Perverted and somewhat vicious, but cute. He has my heart, somewhere within the clamp of his locked jaw.
Interestingly, at the party, I met a gal from Williamson, NY (like, 20 miles from Rochester), another gal from Binghamton NY (birthplace of Kirsten!) and a fella from Ottawa, Canada – only proving my theory that no matter where you are in the world, there’s always someone familiar with where you’ve been, close by. I brought a Gewürztraminer for the tasting, unaware that everyone else was bringing a dry red. Nonetheless, mine received a lot of praise and it was selected as the 4th best. Ha, take that California!

so many to try!
Saturday was a work day for me. That was tough because the computer and I were seated next to the window, where I couldn't help but notice the crowds of people walking toward the bay to partake one of the many Fleetweek festivities. Bah. Later in the evening (with thy computer still in thy lap) a high school pal of G along with his wife were in town with their hell if I know what kind of dog that is, Noodle. Dutch and Noodle got along really well. A little too well. I mean, who knew that girl dogs could do that. Then I stayed up too late and watched SNL (not so live out here) and an episode of Full House (yeah, that felt about right).

Dutch and Noodle, Looney Tunes style
Mindy and I left early Sunday morning to voyage over to the William Sonoma with 4 floors! where I picked this up for my über baker/octopus obsessed Sister Erika. We also swung by the Gap where every sock was only $1.99. I now own 6 more pair of Argyles, which is cool because I love argyle. Who doesn’t? Later I headed over to REI (another favorite store, I need to camp!) and Trader Joes. After returning home, I made (er, put into the oven) a batch of Trader Joe’s bean and cheese taquitas (anyone else feel need to shout the word taquita? Mexican food always excites me enough to want to shout, Taquita! Tamale! Enchilada!!!) Anyway, G had a slew of his friends over to watch football and play Halo 3 and I attempted to take a nap through that and those darn blue angels (why are they still here?) The rest of the evening was a blur as I was on the machine, yet again. And no, I wasn't watching back episodes of Grey's Anatomy. I mean, why would I do that?
As for the job hunt *

* going quiet well, actually! I'm not going to go into great detail on this site, for obvious reasons… but I will say that I couldn’t be in a better place, for what I do. Web 2.0, baby!

Wow, K, you look like you're getting stuff DONE. :)Seriously, it looks like you're having a blast in CA. And that wine tasting looks fun as hell.

Regarding Dutch: If a puppy is biting you to the point of pain, yell and withdraw from them. Just let out one yell and make it a little on the loud side. (Of course being careful that they do not have their teeth stuck into you and you are not ripping flesh.) Take a quick timeout from giving them attention, maybe 10 - 30 seconds. Basically what you are doing is imitating what puppies do with each other when one gets too rough during play. Let out a yelp and ignore him/her for a minute.
