Another unusual tale from the wild
Something has been eating from the outdoor cat dish.
It is a Blue Jay.
I saw it with my own eyes. Eating straight out of the dish. Staring back at me in-between gobbles.
Apparently there is a whole family of cat food eating Blue Jays living here. They swoop down onto the back deck on a daily basis... and just help themselves to a feast clearly unfit for a bird.
The cats won’t go near the things because they're so enormous.
From eating all their protein-rich cat food, I imagine.

My parents have a huge bluejay that hangs out on the back porch and harasses you to feed him peanuts. He's got a bit of abnormally bald head (it's a sensitive topic with him) so I think he compensates by being the only bluejay I've ever been afraid of. He will attack!

My neighbors leave cat food out for a stray that hangs around, and I always see the woodchucks macking on that grub. I've never seen a bluejay go in for the kill, however. That's something.

J: yeah, I’m a little concerned about that too. just yesterday, one of them looked up at me all like, "this cat food is yummy, but I’d rather be eating that turkey hemp wrap in your hands... or YOU!"
S: I wouldn't want one of these guys diving into my car while driving.
Too soon?
N: fortunately, the back deck is high enough so the fatties (what we call woodchucks) cannot get to the food. although I would pay see to see their cute little plump bums try :) raccoons have been known to climb up here, and picturing that makes me want to cry because seeing a raccoon climb something is just so darn cute!

Oh that is funny. It kind of reminds me of the toad who would eat dog food in Big Trouble.
